Digi upgrades connectivity at Hartalega plants in Malaysia

Malaysian operator Digi Business has extended its partnership with nitrile glove manufacturer Hartalega. Under the terms of the expanded deal, Digi Business is upgrading the connectivity points at Hartalega’s plants in Sepang and Bestari Jaya to serve its business and workforce.

To support Hartalega’s needs for connectivity solutions for its business expansion, Digi Business is currently installing portable base transceiver stations, lampholes and permanent rooftop base transceivers at Hartalega’s hostels in Sepang and Bestari Jaya.

Digi’s CEO Eugene Teh said the glove industry has seen a boom in recent years especially with the rising need for protective gear amid the pandemic.

“We are happy that we can support Hartalega’s evolving connectivity needs as they continue to grow and expand their business,” he noted.

The network enhancement setup will address any connectivity challenges that the glove manufacturer may face in the future and will allow their employees to stay connected at work and with their families, said Digi.

For its first quarter ended June 30, 2021, Hartalega’s net profit jumped 928 percent year-on-year (YoY) to RM2.26 billion from RM219.72 million in 1QFY21 driven by higher sales revenue and lower utilities expenses, partly offset by the increase in raw material piece.

Its revenue for the quarter rose 324 percent YoY to RM3.9. billion against RM920.09 million last year due to higher average selling price and sales volume.

Hartalega continues to expand capacity at its glove manufacturing facility in Sepang, Selangor, in line with the demand growth outlook.
